Carpentry Supervisor

Madison Property Management, a local family-owned, full-service property management company, is hiring a Carpentry Supervisor. This is a full-time, hourly, in person position. The shift is Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The Carpentry Supervisor will work to ensure that the carpentry team has the needed tools to ensure the properties managed by MPM are kept up to applicable standards.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Work with operations team to assign tickets to carpenters
Review and process completed carpentry tickets
Hiring contractors for large carpentry projects
Drafting, pulling permits, and applying for certificates of appropriateness
Providing estimates for larger work projects
Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating carpenters
Periodically inspects work performed by carpenters to assess effectiveness of policies and procedures, and develop corrective action plans as needed
Periodically inspects work performed by contractors, vendors and other service providers to verify the work, materials and services meet quality standards, scope and specifications as required
Complete work order reports and handle inventory appropriately
Interact professionally with residents, office staff, and vendors as needed
Communicate with the Property Management team to ensure that property residents and owners are kept in the loop on applicable carpentry projects
Develop an understanding of the MPM portfolio, inventory, and SOP’s
Assist with snow removal
Contribute to a positive team environment
Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

Prior experience in general carpentry, hanging doors, windows installation, framing, finish trim work, stair stringer layout, cabinet and countertop installation, etc.
Must provide own tools
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blue prints
Have the ability to use mechanical and electrical tools as well as testing and measuring equipment to assemble and/or troubleshoot equipment
Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, able to multi-task and have good problem-solving skills
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Assisting with snow removal is mandatory.
Driver's license and insured personal vehicle for daily use (MPM pays mileage).
Live within a 30 miles radius of downtown Madison, WI
Positive attitude and great interpersonal skills
Overtime is mandatory during August-September campus turnover, including some weekend work. May need to work overtime in other months
