Maintenance Technician 2

Madison Property Management, a local family-owned, full-service property management company, is hiring a Maintenance Technician II. This is a full-time, hourly, in person position. The shift is Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and work with to ensure that the properties managed by MPM are kept up to applicable standards.

Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Completing daily maintenance requests (clearing clogged sink and shower drains, unclogging toilets, replacing burnt out light bulbs, replacing garbage disposals, fixing door locks)
  • Appliance repair/replace (fridges, microwaves, dishwashers, stoves, washers, dryers)
  • Performing preventative maintenance on building mechanicals
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals
  • Complete work order reports and handle inventory appropriately
  • Interact professionally with residents, office staff, and vendors as needed
  • Communicate with the Property Management team to ensure that property residents and owners are kept in the loop on applicable maintenance projects
  • Contribute to a positive team environment
  • Develop an understanding of the MPM portfolio, inventory, and SOP’s
  • Participate in the on-call rotation schedule
  • Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance principles including standard practices and methods of electrical, plumbing, appliance repairs and HVAC
  • Must provide own tools
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building maintenance such as but not limited to electric drill & saws, volt and gas meters, key machine, power drain cleaner (snake), ladders etc
  • Proficiency with computers and smart phones is necessary
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, able to multi-task and have good problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible
  • Positive attitude and great interpersonal skills
  • Driver's license and insured personal vehicle for daily use (MPM pays mileage).
  • Live within a 30 miles radius of downtown Madison, WI
  • Overtime is mandatory during August-September campus turnover, including weekend work. May need to work overtime in other months
